How to choose from the basic categories of luminaires?
Our manufactured luminaires are offered in various designs, specifically: Surface-mounted luminaires (no special marking, e.g., AURA 2) – Luminaires that can be mounted on ceilings and also on walls (unless otherwise specified on the product page). The installation is surface-mounted. Semi-recessed luminaires (marked with V, e.g., AURA V2) – Luminaires that can be mounted on ceilings and also on walls (unless otherwise specified on the product page). Installation is carried out into pre-prepared openings in the ceiling/wall matching the size of the luminaire’s base. The luminaire is then fixed into this opening using special brackets. Compared to surface-mounted luminaires, semi-recessed luminaires are visually more elegant (only the diffuser is visible), but their installation should be carefully planned in advance. Suspended luminaires (various markings, e.g., ADRIA S2) – Luminaires mounted on ceilings. Installation is surface-mounted. These luminaires are available in a wider range of designs. For more information, see the FAQ section How to understand different types of suspended luminaires. Industrial luminaires (no special marking, e.g., TRITON 2) – Luminaires that can be mounted on ceilings and walls (unless otherwise specified). Installation is surface-mounted. These are characterized by higher durability and a design suitable for outdoor areas, garages, basements, etc.Table lamps (no special marking, e.g., BIANCA 2) – Luminaires that can be freely placed without installation. They include a power cable with a switch.
How to understand the different versions of suspended luminaires?
Our suspended luminaires are available with various suspension types: P (e.g., ADRIA P) – Rod suspension, available in lengths from 20 to 100 cm. L (e.g., ADRIA L) – Suspension made of stainless steel cables with a supply cable, standard length 100 cm (can be shortened). LE (e.g., CARINA LE) – Suspension made of steel cables without a supply cable (low voltage on wires – SELV), standard length 100 cm (can be shortened). S (e.g., ADRIA S) – Suspension made of a cable with an internal steel support wire, standard length 100 cm (can be shortened). ST (e.g., ZETA ST) – Suspension made of a textile braided cable with an internal steel support wire, standard length 100 cm. R (e.g., MIRA R) – Suspension made of a chain with large links and a supply cable.
How to choose between glass and plastic diffusers?
Our luminaires are available with glass or plastic diffusers: Glass diffusers – TRIPLEX OPAL – Hand-blown, special three-layer glass (crystal–opal–crystal) with a matte surface. These diffusers have exceptional appearance and optical qualities. Due to triple light refraction, they prevent glare even with high-power light sources. Hand-blown glass makes these diffusers a stylish design element for both indoor and outdoor use. Plastic diffusers – PC, PMMA, PE – An alternative to glass, available in materials such as opal polycarbonate (PC), opal PMMA, and polyethylene. All plastics are high-quality with UV stabilization to prevent aging (yellowing). Plastic diffusers are more resistant to mechanical damage; for PC, IK10 is standard. These are suitable where glass cannot be used, especially for safety and durability reasons.
Advantages and disadvantages of E27 bulbs vs. OSMONT LED systems
We manufacture our luminaires in two basic versions: the bulb version and the LED version. A more comprehensive overview of the advantages of both versions can be found in the table below:
E27 VERSION | LED SYSTEM OSMONT |
PROS | PROS |
- Lower purchase price | - Low energy consumption |
- Option with motion sensor | - High output |
CONS | - Maintenance-free |
- Requires bulb replacement | - Wide range of equipment |
- Lower output than LED OSMONT | - Possibility of custom solutions (CRI, K, etc.) |
- No additional equipment | CONS |
- Higher purchase price |
How to understand luminaire functions/versions?
Classic on/off – Standard switching on/off. Sensor – Controlled by a high-frequency motion sensor; turns on when motion is detected, then switches off after a set time. Adjustable in the luminaire. Dimmable – Equipped with a DALI dimmable driver. Allows grouping and brightness control via a DALI system or manually (requires 4- or 5-core wiring). Emergency – Works only in emergency mode during power failure for a set time (e.g., 1h or 3h). Combined emergency – Works as a regular on/off luminaire, switches to emergency mode during outages (3h standard, other durations on request). Combined emergency + sensor – Same as above, with motion sensor control. Combined emergency SELFTEST – Same as combined emergency but with automatic self-testing. Combined emergency SELFTEST + sensor – Same as combined emergency with sensor but with automatic self-testing. Corridor - Corridor function (DALI + sensor) – Adjusts brightness based on motion (e.g., 10% standby, 100% with motion detected). Tunable White – Adjustable color temperature (2700–6500K) via DALI, Bluetooth, Smarthome etc.
Can luminaires be equipped with non-standard components?
Yes. We offer custom production, including non-standard emergency modules, drivers, control systems, different CCT (1800–6500K), or CRI (>90, >95). Often available from 1 piece. If you are interested in non-standard equipment, please send your request to the email address osmont@osmont.cz.
Can I request a different luminaire color or suspension length?
Yes. We can adjust base color, glass finish (matte/glossy), or suspension length for most models. If you are interested in custom solutions, please send your request to the email address osmont@osmont.cz.
What do the icons/pictograms mean?
In our printed catalogue and on our website, you will find numerous explanatory pictograms and icons. Their meanings are explained in the tables below: MECHANICAL RESISTANCE
IK04 | Resistance of the diffuser to mechanical damage (against impacts) 0,5 J (0,25kg - height 20cm) |
IK06 | Resistance of the diffuser to mechanical damage (against impacts) 1 J (0,25kg - height 40cm) |
IK10 | Resistance of the diffuser to mechanical damage (against impacts) 20 J (0,25kg - height 40cm) |
IP20 | Protected against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of 12.5 mm or larger. Not protected against water. |
IP40 | Protected against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of 1 mm or larger. Not protected against water. |
IP41 | Protected against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of 1 mm or larger. Protected against vertically dripping water. |
IP43 | Protected against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of 1 mm or larger. Protected against spraying and rain. |
IP44 | Protected against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of 1 mm or larger. Protected against splashing water. |
IP54 | Protected against dust. Protected against splashing water. |

The luminaire is equipped with the so-called CORRIDOR function. This function combines a DALI driver and an HF motion sensor. The CORRIDOR function enables changes in light intensity depending on movement in the given space. A 10-100% setting means that in the absence of movement, the luminaire lights at only 10%, and when motion is detected, it lights at 100%, then dims back to 10% once movement stops. |

The luminaire is equipped with a Tunable White system, allowing the user to set the colour temperature as needed in the range from 2700K to 6500K. The TW luminaire is controlled via a DALI driver or a wireless Bluetooth module. In addition to adjusting the colour temperature, it is also possible to change the light intensity. |
